I had an amazing privilege this weekend. I got to play with white lion cubs. Getting to touch and interact one on one with lion cubs is rare enough, but white lions even more so! I had to remind myself that this kind of experience is shared by only a very few and I’m extremely grateful to have had this opportunity. Also got to see a tigers, cheetah and more! Happy days! Thanks to to my friends who took me. Glad we choose the lion park in the end 🙂

General stuff about this and that.
Just got back from a wonderful weekend break visiting old friends. Dru & Rob, thanks for the wonderful hospitality!
“It is the best of humanity, I think, that goes out to walk. In happy hours all affairs may be wisely postponed for this. Dr. Johnson said, ‘Few men know how to take a walk,’ and it is pretty certain that Dr. Johnson was not one of those few. It is a fine art; there are degrees of proficiency, and we distinguish the professors from the apprentices. The qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good-humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence, and nothing too much.…
Hello All, Apologies that I been so quiet over the past few weeks. I have been 100 committed to getting as much work done as possible. I need to get back down to the coast ASAP and I can only do that if I have enough cash saved. So Ive taken any and all work I can get. It’s going well but I’m stretched and feeling the pressure of long days without a break since Feb. Looking ahead things should be more reasonable from week after next…so the light is…
Tomatoes are coming in thick and fast now from the garden. Fantastic in a mixed lettuce salad from the garden! Now all I need is a goat so I can make some decent goats cheese to go with that. Later today I’m putting up an owl box in the large bramler tree outside. They a huge help with keeping rat numbers down which have exploded with no real predators about. Will post some pics later.
Bit of a funny I had save for future reference and share. Enjoy (via Michele, thanks!) Proudly showing off his newly-leased downtown apartment to a couple of friends late one night, a drunk Maori led the way to his bedroom where there was a big brass gong hanging on the wall. ‘What’s that big brass gong for?’ one of the friends asked. ‘Issss nod a gong. Issss a talking Australian clock,’ he drunkenly replied. ”A talking Australian clock – seriously?’ ‘Yup.’ ‘Hmmm (hic).’ ‘How’s it work?’ the second friend asked,…
Been pottering about today, I like doing that! Did some SYSAdmin stuff this morning early then got some tools out to make a vertical herb garden. There a few old pallets about here so I thought about re-purposing them. I made the vertical garden without to much bother and got thinking about some hanging flower baskets and a couple benches. While all that was going on I been keeping one eye on the cricket. South Africa is having a great series against New Zealand and this second test we really…
Had a very lekker day yesterday. My close friends Janice and Matt have been visiting family here and will be leaving to go home soon. We been trying to get a good beach day done for ages now and after a false start on Friday, the wind was just to strong, we decided on yesterday. I took them down to Kidd’s Beach, my favourite spot and where I grew up. We arrived about 12ish and made our way down the beach. Quite a few folks about but not very busy…
