Cross posted from my work blog Via eff.org: Net neutrality— the idea that Internet service providers (ISPs) should treat all data that travels over their networks equally—got major attention this Spring when the FCC released proposed regulatory guidelines that left Internet users and companies alike deeply concerned. The proposal included new language giving ISPs leeway to create a “fast lane” for certain websites (i.e. websites with deep pockets that were willing to shell out more money for faster access to users). But you can’t have a fast lane without also…

This is going to mean some cock-ups on this blog. I’m sure many images I had hosted with Google may now stop working, Youtube videos and the like too. I’ll try slowly fix any issues that come up but and if you spot any broken images on the site, or vids not working, please let me know.

[Note: This is me voicing my frustration at the American Government. But also my deep disappointment in the majority of American people who do nothing to stop this behaviour. To those who do stand up and fight, well done and keep it up!] Edit 11/09: And now the latest… Crucial Unanswered Questions about the NSA’s BULLRUN Program With the recent revelations of just how pervasive (and invasive) the American Government’s surveillance is, in and OUT of their borders, I just wanted to state my current feelings on this. I come across this problem daily, clients, friends and family using weak passwords for logins to various user accounts on and off the web. Not only this, I see them using the same one for multiple different services… I cannot stress how dangerous this combination is. The next version of Ubuntu is coming soonOut  26th April 2012, Ubuntu 12.04.

I been running Ubuntu 12.04 since the second Alpha,  a few months now, having upgraded from 10.04 (released April 2010).

It’s a massive improvement from 10.04 so I highly recommend you upgrade if you running an older version.

If you running Windows or Mac… you need to seriously consider this. I been on Linux since 2007 and I have NEVER regretted that decision. No cost, no lock in. Just quality software.

So here is my little tutorial to get my friends up to speed and help with the upgrade.

Newer digital cameras take incredibly high resolution images now. This is great, but what if you need to send a “smaller” version to someone? I sent this to a friend earlier to help her with using images on her new site, thought it may be useful to other folks too.
