Had an absolutely brilliant time with a few Mates watching the Boks beat Australia in PE on Saturday. Great stadium, great crowd, great atmosphere. Highly recommend attending a game if you get the chance. Was fantastic to watch the Boks win with with your Mates! Cheers Guys! A few pics below the match report. It’s been to long since I posted, so here then a very quick update! I not been spearfishing since last year when I got my arse handed to me on the rocks at blue fish gully. But… my mojo is back. Need to get my gear all ready and then it’s time get some fish again. Running, I hurt my ITB last year doing a long trail run over very rough terrain. It’s only now starting to come right but I got to take it real slow… I’m still building…
Angela and I leave for a welcome break to Cape Town today. It’s been a crazy few months and an exceptionally busy year overall. But what a year! It was about 12 months ago that I started working on buying the plot of land here with Mum. Today, I’m sending my comments to the architect to make adjustments to the plans for the home I’ll be building there. If all goes well we’ll start on the cottage for Mum in March next year. With the main house to follow as…
As winter breaks in Cornwall and the sun starts rising earlier, you’ll see the small boat fishing fleet of Cornwall steaming out before sunrise every morning. They hunting mackerel. I had the privilege to fish commercially for mackerel out of Mousehole for a season. It was hard work but some of the most rewarding hours I’ve spent at sea. The feeling of a hand line filled with 15+ mackerel as you pull it up and it’s just “silver” coming over the gunwale, it’s exhilarating…. you yank that tiller over hard…
The trip is off. Don’t even ask. Please. I really do not want to speak about it, I’m devastated to be missing this. Well it’s just about time to get on a plane again. It’s been awhile…but this time it’s just a visit. I promise to be back soon 🙂 So with buying a plot…wanting to build… and all those small things in life… I decided that unless I want to live in a tent for the next five years I best trim down my grandiose plans of a three…
So was thinking about Easter weekend in Cornwall and in particularly the Good Friday walk which is a fantastic tradition in Mousehole. It stems from the Spanish raid of 1595 (Wikipedia article on the raid). If I remember the story correctly, the women of the village would dress up and carry sticks so that they looked like soldiers caring muskets, then patrol the cliffs between Lamorna and Mousehole to give the Spanish the impression that the village was well defended. (If I got the story wrong please correct me in…
This past weekend I got the opportunity to get away to Bushmans to celebrate Tracy and Dru’s birthdays, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. How lekker is that 🙂 We left Kidds after work on Friday and had a really enjoyable drive down to Bushmans. We arrived around 7ish and settled in with a few cold beers and good ol’ braai with great company. Fantastic! Saturday started with a cup of coffee and rusk enjoying the early morning sunrise before everyone got up. Was a beautiful morning and getting…
