Visited a stunning location today in the hills of the Eastern Cape called Thomas River. I drove up there to enjoy Christmas lunch with family. Here is the long and short of it from their website: Thomas River, named in 1801, takes its name from an English deserter, Thomas Bentley. Part of Van Der Kemps missionary, Bentley was killed by a poison Bushman Arrow while crossing the river, thus duly named Thomas River. The original train station, sited between the stone forts, dates from the late 1870’s with the new…
Wishing all my friends and family a very Merry Christmas. Where-ever you may be, I trust you’ll be spending it with those that love you.
‘Trust’ is not about some kind of absolute neutrality, or anything like that, but it’s about a certain level of predictability and about knowing that you won’t be shafted” – Linus Torvalds “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” – Jimi Hendrix “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in seeing with new eyes.” – Marcel Proust “Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.” – Seneca And finally, I came…
Hi Folks, Looking at some of my older posts with images, I see that many are not showing. I’ll look into this as time allows, sorry about that. Cheers B
It’s indicative of this year (and that one before it) that I’ve not had the inclination to post regularly to my blog. For my friends who are afar, sorry. I know it’ a good way for you to keep in the loop and I been slacking. For the past 18 months, after being forced out of my previous position at SurveyShack in the UK, I been building up my old web site design business again. Without reliable work it’s been tough time and hard to get ahead. Dad also passed…
One of my favourites! With the weather turning cold here I thought it the perfect dish for today. Now what follows is my recollection of what a “dumped” into the pot… yep, it’s bit like that and it tends to change every time… What I do is go buy some root vegetables, the oxtail of course and some other bits and bobs and just stick in a pot. It’s never failed so give it a whirl 😀
I come across this problem daily, clients, friends and family using weak passwords for logins to various user accounts on and off the web. Not only this, I see them using the same one for multiple different services… I cannot stress how dangerous this combination is. I tell you now, and you better listen, if you one of 75% of the general population that does that, it’s not if you going to have your accounts compromised, it’s when. Out 26th April 2012, Ubuntu 12.04.
I been running Ubuntu 12.04 since the second Alpha, a few months now, having upgraded from 10.04 (released April 2010).
It’s a massive improvement from 10.04 so I highly recommend you upgrade if you running an older version.
If you running Windows or Mac… you need to seriously consider this. I been on Linux since 2007 and I have NEVER regretted that decision. No cost, no lock in. Just quality software.
So here is my little tutorial to get my friends up to speed and help with the upgrade.
