As the headline and image above suggests, I been on the beach a bit this week. It’s been incredibly busy with work (a good thing) but I’m so lucky that I seem to be finding a good balance of focusing on work and taking the time I need for myself too. It’s so important to make my life here sustainable. I need the work to pay my way and to work towards my goals, but without the balance I’d be unhappy, stressed and well probably quite grumpy. I don’t like…

Since I moved to Kidd’s Beach a year and a few months ago, I been building a life style business from scratch with no outside funding or capital. I wanted to not only live by the ocean, but to enjoy all it has to offer. So I came “home” to Kidd’s Beach and have been working from my home doing website site design and website hosting. It’s been a slow start, the business not growing as quickly as I’d hoped and I feel I’m about 6 months behind where I’d…
I generally walk every morning at sunrise and get to enjoy some quiet time at one of the most beautiful times of the day in a beautiful setting. It’s food for the soul and keeps me grounded. If I’m feeling sprightly I’ll do a few yoga poses before taking some time to sit on the rocks and have some quiet time. Last night Benj asked if I wanted to join him and Jean on the beach for some exercise. Cool I said. And what a great morning. We had a…
For the past month or so, Bono and I have been making a sunrise exercise session on the beach part of our routine at least once a week. I’m loving it and it goes without saying Bono is too. It’s hard not to enjoy the start to the day when you greeted with views like these from this morning! Enjoy and I hope where ever you are you having a wonderful day!
It’s been a tough few days for me. Not tough as in no food, not tough as in no shelter. But tough emotionally. Does that count? I guess it’s all relative but it does make me think that I’m asking to much sometimes. I thought I was coming home, but home has changed. The “village” I’d hoped to settle down in for awhile, Hout Bay, is no village any longer…it was never a tiny place while I lived here, but rather “sleepy” and laid back is how I’d describe it. …
This is why I’m back. What an awesome morning. There is not much better a way to start the day, sunshine, blue skies and breakfast social gathering with people I hardly know but smile when they see you. This is living life, not just existing. Dario’s in Hout Bay is where we all meet for a Friday morning breakfast get together. Drink coffee, eat, talk and be on our way. Thanks to Dario and his staff for being such a good hosts!
“He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson “Please know what I mean when I say nothing” – Mason Jennings “Friends may come and go, but enemies accumulate.” – Thomas Jones “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. ” – Nelson Mandela “It is not the strongest of the species…nor the most intelligent, that survives. It is the one most adaptable to change.” – Darwin “Never ruin an apology with an…
When the heavenly gods created human beings, they kept everlasting life for themselves and gave us death. So, Gilgamesh, accept your fate. Each day, wash your head, bathe your body, and wear clothes that are sparkling fresh. Fill your stomach with tasty food. Play, sing, dance, and be happy both day and night. Delight in the pleasures that your wife brings you, and cherish the little child who holds your hand. Make every day of your life a feast of rejoicing! This is the task that the gods have set…
This is the second instalment of inspirational material I’ve collected. Here’s a link to the first if you missed it.
