Excuse the brevity of this post. Busy time at the moment! So short and sweet it is. Got a beauty of a blue fish on Sunday. We had spectacular conditions, the best all year. And I got two blues. The one in the picture was by biggest blue fish to date. Not sure on the weight. Over 2kgs, under 3? Something like that. It will feed 6 easily so a nice slab. Took it off a shallow reef at Kidds Beach where I stay. Was a great dive. Crystal clean…
Whoop whoop. First dive since December. Tough conditions with the wind chopping things up good and proper but it was clean and warm so happy days. Took this fella (Blue fish) at about 8-10m on a bit of reef in the middle of the bay at KB. Not huge but got two great fillets off him 🙂 Saw a beauty of about 4kg+ on the same spot but with the wind it was really difficult to stay on the reef and I lost the mark before I saw it again……
Been some time since I posted some proper news . So thought I’d do a good catchup now that I have some time off, share news, some pics and the like. It’s a long one, be forewarned, but there some lovely pics and a lot going on so stick with it. Here a few sunrises from November to enjoy first up (click to enlarge the images). December’s. Love them. It’s my birthday, holidays and summer. But goodness, I been so busy. It’s the morning of the 21st today already and…
Had a nice sunrise dive this morning. We still experiencing quite heavy swell so most of my normal spots are washed out at the moment. However the tide was just right at sunrise this morning so that “blue fish gully” was on. It’s a big gully running out just below my house and when if you can get in there… it usually bags you a fish or two. It was tough diving though. Lots of water washing through the gully with the big swell and lots of white water which…
Looks like there’ll be no diving for the next few days with serious winter swell rolling through, 14-15 foot… not so good when you got to get back in on the rocks… Now I’d like to say I’ll be dusting of my board and going for a surf… bloody hell. No thanks. 3-4 foot little lefts for me thanks. Not mountains for white water and near death experiences. It does afford time to do some overdue gear upgrades and fixes through which I suppose is a good thing for next…
News in from me old buddy Ross who had a cracking day diving yesterday. Having spent hours hunting those beauties myself, take it from me, those are bloody good fish for Mount’s Bay! Nice one Boet! Here’s the detail from Ross: Had a great day spearfishing today. Went out with Dad in perfect weather to the Greeb. Dived hard for zilch. Then on to Mt Mopus, dropped a marker bouy and started drift diving in strong current. I could manage about 4 to 5 dives per drift before Dad had…
