Dived Kellen today took a nice bass there. Was very cold though and was struggling with my diving a bit. Decided to move to the Conqueror. The water was much warmer there and I managed to take a good sized Pollock off there of 2-3 kilos. Fantastic dive as always the Conqueror.
Dived Stannock and Kellen this afternoon. Took three bass off the Kellen, saw two fish on Stannock but neither where really a chance. Tide flooding, Wind NNE, Dived 4.30 – 7.
Quick note on dive today. Tough conditions with SW blowing. Stannock was blown out, dived Kellen and took small bass, saw a school of about 5 bigger fish earlier. Also dived the Coqueror again and saw a good sized pollock but could not get a shot at him. Checkin at Mousehole island but nothing going, headed back in. Stats: left 2pm, back 5pm. HW 3.20pm. Wind SW 20mph
Today was a very special day for me. I successfully dived two locations, having a variable depth of between 15 and 20 meters. I took fish off both locations, one of which was my best fish taken spear-fishing to-date.
The two spots where Low Lee which has a pinnacle at about 10m, falling away to 20m+ down the sides and the wreck of the Conqueror that lies in about 15 – 22m of water depending on the area you diving.
I have been spear-fishing for 3 years and today I ticked off a major goal to be able to comfortably and successfully dive 20m.
Just a quick post before I get some sleep. Had another good dive today. Dived Stannock, Bucks and Kellen. Got two bass, one a good fish between 1.5 and 2 kilo. Pic to follow. Diving Greeb and Low Lee tomorrow…
Good dive! 3 bass, biggest 1.5 kilo.
Muddy called me up this morning and made me an offer I could not refuse. The tides where right, the wind was right, the sun was out… what was a man to do! So we headed out and headed direct to the Kellen where we been having some good success lately.
Whoop whoop! Landed my biggest bass of the year so far on Sunday, “only” 5.5lbs but I’m stoked! I say “only” as my friend Dave decided to put us all to shame and slotted a 11lbs at Eddystone the other day…
Just a very short post to let you all know we dived some new ground yesterday off Praa Sands. Really good ground with big boulders coming off big sandy tracks. Lots of crevices and holes here and there. Was not very successful dive for me, although I did take small Coley which is quite a rare fish to take spearfishing so chuffed with that. Ross got a Dover Sole and fairly big Grey Mullet. The Dover Sole was unexpected and really nice to see one come out from there, we’ll…
