Woke up Saterday to an absolutely stunning day in Hout Bay. Thought it to good to waste, so decided to do a little exploring.
My good friend Alan lives up the mountain side, almost directly above where I’m staying right in the heart of Hout Bay valley. There is a public footpath that leads up past where he stays, it follows the old Victorskloof road build by Thomas Bains and linked Hout Bay and Camps Bay. I thought it would be good try that for a start and pick Al up on the way. I sent Al a message a but the lazy bugger never got back to me till much later when I’d all but finished the walk! Turns out he had a valid excuse though to you off the hook Al! 😉
The walk up took me up past the World of Birds and follows Victorskloof Road till it becomes a public footpath. The path keeps going up, through Ryuterplaats to Suikerbossie. From there you can continue on around towards the Apostle Battery side or head up the valley. Apparently you can walk right round so I’ll try that when we have a good day’s weather again.
At the top of Suikerbossie, you get a lovely view above Llandudno and Hout Bay itself.
From there I followed the contour path up the valley. You get amazing views both up and down the valley along the whole route. Towards the end of my walk I came to Myburgh’s waterfall, small but stunning. I spend about 30 minutes there just soaking up the peaceful energy, amazing.
From there, it’s a little walk further on before you can come down again towards Valley Road. From there it was a short walk home and off for a shower. Great walk and look forward to taking it right round next time.

PS – Image quality is not great, had to use my phone camera. My charger for my canon got soaked in shaving cream when it exploded in my back during the flight here… lucky that was the only damage but now without a decent camera unless I can find a replacement charger.
