UPDATE 18/06: Found a place in Kidds Beach, outside of East London and moving in on the 1st! More news and pics once I’m in!
Hi Folks,
So I been asking people I know for suggestions on where to live in South Africa. It needs to tick the following boxes:
- On the coast (preferably with great spearfishing or fishing spots locally)
- Must be a village or small town
- Ideally with the basics so no need to travel to get supplies (food/beer)
- Must have ADSL or good 3G+ internet access
- Friendly people
Nice to haves (not deal breakers):
- Has a harbour or place to keep a boat
- Close to an airport with local connections to major towns (within an hour’s drive)
Suggestions so far:
- East London (where I grew up)
- Slummies is ok, but the quality of the ocean visibility is very questionable with it being to dirty to dive most days.
- It’s also to big. I could work around that by moving to one of the villages on the outskirts, something like Gonubie (a bit big), Cintsa or Kidds Beach.
- Umtata
- Close to the Wild Coast but not on the coast so it rules it out. Must be on the coast. I.e. walk to beach close.
I like the idea of the Wild Coast (Old Transkei), but do any of the small towns or villages have ADSL Internet access?
Any suggestion is appreicated, comment below.
Cheers
B
Sounds like Newlyn would be perfect!! Lol!! x
It was pretty good! I guess I should add “Aunty May’s franchise a must” to the list 😉
Oh no does that mean someone would have to come to run it??? I wonder who’d volunteer to do that?? Bet no-one there does cappucino deliveries!! Lol!! x
